How it works …

FAQs

  • The Gourmet Guys’ price is a fee for chef services, and it is added to the cost of your groceries. While the grocery cost for 6 meals will be higher than it is for 2, the chef service fee is the same.

  • No problem! Just order an extra entree, and your chef will be happy to prepare an additional 2 to 6 servings of the same meal.

  • The Gourmet Guys’ smallest offering for in-home chef services is the Essentials Package, wihch is 3 meals, each for 2 to 6 servings.

  • Because every menu is custom designed just for you and your family, allergies are no problem. Your chef has been trained in safely handling food for clients with food allergies, and will be sure to ask about allergies and sensitivities during your free initial consultation.

  • Once again, because every menu is custom designed just for you and your family, we can plan your meals around any diet you prefer: medical diets, low-carb, low-calorie, kosher, Keto, paleo … whatever your dietary needs, we’ll take account of them when creating your customized menus and preparing your food.

  • The Gourmet Guys is a personal chef service, and that means we are providing you with a service, not a delivered meal. All of your food will be prepared right in your own kitchen.

  • That’s up to you. Your chef will need a period of 3 to 4 hours in your kitchen on every cook day. The Gourmet Guys will work with you to find a convenient time for your chef to be there. If you prefer for your chef to visit while you’re home, that can be arranged; if you’d rather provide a key, that’s fine too.

  • That’s up to you. On his first visit, your chef will ask what kitchen equipment you have available, and whether you prefer that he use your equipment or bring his own.

  • Prior to your first cook day, The Gourmet Guys will invoice you for your chef service fee. You’ll be able to pay this invoice by credit card, debit card, electronic funds transfer from your checking account, or a paper check. At the conclusion of your cook day, we’ll bill you for the groceries we purchased, along with the chef service fee for your next cook day, if you’re scheduling one. If you’re not scheduling another cook day right away, then you’ll just be billed for the groceries.

  • No. The Gourmet Guys’ service is completely customizable. Most people have their chef visit once a week. But you can have your chef visit bi-weekly, monthly, or on any schedule you like. And there’s nothing wrong with hiring The Gourmet Guys for just one single cook day.

  • Absolutely! Check out our Gifts page to learn how.

  • Yes. The protection of your home and your family is our top priority. The Gourmet Guys is fully insured. We carry A+ rated general insurance, product liability insurance, and equipment coverage. And if you’d like to be added as an additional named insured on The Gourmet Guys’ policy, that’s possible at no extra charge—just ask your chef about this option during your initial consultation.

  • Yes. The Gourmet Guys requires that chef services can only be offered when a chef with manager-level food safety certification is on the premises. Food safety training and certification are provided by ServSafe, a program of the National Restaurant Association (NRA), accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Conference for Food Protection (CFP). Feel free to ask your chef to show you his credentials; he carries a wallet card with a unique certification number that can be verified on the ServSafe website.

  • The Gourmet Guys does not hold a Pennsylvania liquor license and, therefore, does not sell alcohol to our clients or their guests. However, if clients legally purchase their own alcohol at a licensed Pennsylvania establishment, The Gourmet Guys will be happy to provide RAMP-certified personnel, trained in the safe service of alcohol, to serve their beverages for them. We’ll also work with you to arrange for the extra insurance that alcohol service would require.

  • After your initial consultation, you will be provided with information to help you prepare for your chef’s visit. This will include having your kitchen counters and sinks clean and free of clutter, and having sufficient refrigerator space cleared to allow your chef to store your food once it’s prepared.

  • When your meals are prepared, each item will be separately packaged, clearly labeled, and stored in your refrigerator. Your chef will leave you a detailed sheet explaining what you need to do when you’re ready to eat each meal. In most cases, this will just involve heating the food. Rest assured that your meals are prepared with an eye toward making them easy for you to heat and serve, while still preserving freshness. In each case, you’ll have detailed instructions, including times and temperatures required in heating your food.
